Free AI Tools for Digital Marketing: Start With What Buyers Are Looking For

AI can help you publish the wrong message faster than ever.

More blogs. More social posts. More pages describing your services in language your buyers never use.

Before automating more of your marketing, make sure you’re answering the questions that bring buyers to your business.

Useful free AI tools for digital marketing include ChatGPT for content development, Microsoft Clarity for AI-assisted website analysis, and Semrush’s AI Search Visibility Checker for brand visibility. Keyword research and buyer-intent tools provide the evidence that helps you put those insights to work.

The opportunity is to use free features from powerful platforms to understand what buyers want, whether they can find you, and what happens when they reach your website.

First, get clear on what you’re selling

Choose one offer. Who needs it? What situation makes them look for help? What outcome do they want?

In complex B2B markets, companies often describe their offerings in technically accurate internal language. Prospective customers search for the problem they need to solve. Your website may have the right answer, but the buyer never recognizes it.

In equipment finance, for example, a lender might organize its website around the names of financing structures. Those terms matter, especially later in a buyer’s evaluation. But a business owner may begin with a more immediate concern: acquiring equipment while preserving cash, managing monthly payments, or planning for eventual ownership.

A useful marketing page connects that goal to the appropriate solution. It helps the buyer understand the value before asking them to understand the product.

Semrush: Find the language your buyers use

Free features to explore: Limited keyword research and a separate AI search visibility check.

Semrush Keyword Magic Tool helps you test whether your language matches what people search for. A free account currently allows 10 keyword searches per day, with up to 10 results per report. Advanced features and some AI-powered metrics require a paid subscription.

Start with a term from your service page, then try several ways a buyer might describe the need. Review related phrases and questions:

  • Which searches match the work you actually do?
  • Which reveal a concern your page doesn’t address?
  • Which suggest someone is evaluating a solution rather than researching a definition?

For an equipment finance page, the research might support a headline about financing equipment without tying up working capital, followed by explanations of the relevant structures. That is a possibility to test, rather than a keyword conclusion to assume.

Search volume alone shouldn’t determine your content. Look for the overlap between buyer language, buyer intent, and what you sell. Our guide to being found on Google explains how keyword research fits into the broader website strategy.

Free tools to research and improve your AI visibility

Free feature to explore: 10 free searches per day

Semrush’s AI Search Visibility Checker offers a high-level view of brand visibility in AI-generated answers and comparisons with competitors. It currently allows three free checks per day without an account.

Use the results to identify questions worth investigating. If competitors appear for a relevant topic, how clearly does your own site explain that expertise? Are important buyer questions unanswered? Is credible evidence of your work easy to find?

A visibility score is a starting point. Our guide to artificial intelligence optimization (AIO) explains how useful, accessible content supports discovery in AI-generated answers.

HubSpot: See which companies show interest

Free feature to explore: Company-level visitor insights through Buyer Intent.

Privacy blurred analytics dashboard

HubSpot Buyer Intent reveals company-level website activity. Company identities are blurred for privacy.

HubSpot offers a free CRM, and free accounts have access to its Buyer Intent feature. They can see a limited number of companies visiting their website, whether or not the visitors share their email address. Actions such as adding companies through Buyer Intent or tracking them for signals require access to HubSpot credits.

It’s important to note that Buyer Intent requires HubSpot’s tracking code and the appropriate settings.

Its visitor data can include company-level visits, unique visitors, and top pages viewed. It identifies companies associated with visits, not individuals at that company.

Suppose companies visit a Products page and then explore About Us or Blog pages. They may be seeking reassurance that the seller understands a business like theirs.

That suggests a practical improvement: bring the most relevant proof closer to the offer. Link to a useful example, explain the outcome, and make the next step clear.

Also distinguish AI mentions from AI referrals.

  • An AI mention means your brand appeared in an AI answer.
  • An AI referral means someone clicked through from an AI tool.

Installing website tracking does not, by itself, reveal every place AI mentions your organization.

Microsoft Clarity: Use AI to examine the visitor experience

Free features to explore: Heatmaps, session recordings, and Copilot summaries.

Microsoft Clarity helps you investigate what visitors do after arriving. Its free features include click and scroll heatmaps, session recordings, and AI-generated summaries of recordings and heatmaps.

Use the summaries to help identify patterns worth examining more closely. Perhaps visitors reach the Products and Services section but rarely reach the Contact Us form. Perhaps they repeatedly return to information detailed in one of the blogs.

Those observations could prompt a clearer explanation, a better-positioned customer example, or a more relevant call to action.

Behavior does not reveal someone’s thoughts with certainty, but the data always tells a story.

Look for repeated patterns, compare them with other evidence, and test a change against a measurable outcome.

The destination matters, too. If a campaign asks someone to request a consultation, a general homepage may create unnecessary work. Our article on landing pages versus web pages explains how to choose a page that supports the action you want.

ChatGPT: Turn the evidence into stronger content

Free capabilities to explore: Develop, revise, and critique marketing content, subject to usage limits.

ChatGPT becomes more useful when you bring it what you’ve learned. “Write a page about our services” leaves too many important decisions unspecified.

Instead, supply:

  • The offer and the buyer it serves
  • Relevant language from keyword research
  • Questions your sales team hears
  • Observations from website behavior
  • Claims and examples you can substantiate

Then ask for a specific improvement. For example:

Review this service page for a business owner who needs equipment but wants to preserve working capital. Identify unclear language, unanswered buyer questions, and places where evidence would strengthen the page. Suggest three SEO-informed headlines. Do not invent claims, customer examples, or results. Structure the content to be found by AI models.

You can also ask ChatGPT to critique the draft from the perspective of a skeptical CFO, outline an article around a buyer question, or adapt approved content for email and social media.

The quality of the input matters.

Review the output, verify the facts, and apply your organization’s expertise before publishing.

Put the free AI tools for digital marketing to work on one page

Start with a service page connected to an offer you want to sell. Use SEM Rush to check its language against search demand. Examine your visibility and available visitor data. Then use AI to explore a specific improvement.

If you need more research, SparkToro and Ahrefs are worth exploring for audience insights and website analysis. Check their current free access against the question you need to answer.
